You don’t like spam? You just don’t know what to do with it!

Usually when you get unwanted mail, you automatically toss it in the trash – Stop!
Just imagine: you are a professional cosmetics salesman, and checking your mailbox you find “Hairdresser from such and such address inviting our former and current clients …” For you this means: “if their ads work, then they’re going to need my cosmetics!” And so you call you the number listed to offer your products. That’s why the spammer is the dream of anyone hoping to create business-to-business collaboration in marketing and sales for three reasons:
- The business that is sending out the spam is in a state of growth, and that means that they are ready to consume (goods and services like yours) to continue to grow.
- The spamming business will be analyzing responses, and will take note of any positive ones.
- If the spamming company succeeds, then it will need your goods and services to satisfy the demand of its customers.
In practice, spammers will react positively to your desire to collaborate about 30 percent of the time. Not bad.
OmegaT and Google Translate

We received 55 and one-third pages of documents to be translated from Estonian to Russian. The project was confidential and urgent: we received the documents at 4 p.m. and had a deadline of 10 a.m. the next day. We digitized the text and distributed it among a few translators. I myself decided to take on a portion of it and try out the OmegaT translation memory application, which can offer matches from Google Translate.
The results were better than expected! Through 10 pages, Omega/Google twice offered translations that I didn’t have to correct! The rest was pretty decent. And that was the Estonian to Russian combination. Only one little problem – you need to manually link terms that you have already used.
Next time, we’ll try to get the English translation and time it.
